What do people think about social media? I totally get facebook, MySpace and those kind of internet social places to connect and keep up with friends and family, but how about people who use social media like Youtube and twitter to reach out to an audience whom they dont even know on a real level. Im not going to lie, I tried doing things like Youtube, and flickr to reach out to an unknown audience, but for me, mainly its so I can add some kind of social factor into my life rather than feeling like I am all alone with no one to talk to. So yes, what I wonder is why people go into things like chat rooms, youtube, and the like, to want to reach out to an audience who they dont know at all. The first thought that would come into my mind if I found out that one of my friends were actively involved in creating youtube videos and etc is....strange, off, weird. Probably because its outside the box of the norm. Any thoughts?

I blog for the sole purpose of fishing for feedback or affirmation, I suppose. There are times I'll write something that's intended to offend and other times just to get a laugh.
I think there's a bevy of folks out there that want attention. The interweb just gives us narcissists a platform.
For me its an outlet, if people like what i write great if not, so be it.
The initial intention was for my daughter, but as time went on this involved to be more for me (and my audience) who ever that may be.
Social Networking is huge, why? I dont know we dont communicate in the same way we once did, with neighbours, in the pub maybe this has replaced that?
But it does mean of course that i can and do 'chat' with strangers I would never and may never meet - which isnt a bad thing.
i am a twitter FANATIC. it's actually become a bit of an addiction. I just think it's fun to try to sum up a funny moment in 140 characters or less. leaves for a lot of humor. and sometimes, I just need a good laugh, and there are TONS of hilarious people on twitter. if it were spam free, it would be perfect.
